Interfaith Community Outreach Awarded $25,000 Childcare/Tutoring Grant

The Outer Banks Community Foundation is supporting families through a grant to Interfaith Community Outreach. Through the Community Foundation funding, ICO will offer monetary assistance to families with financial need to help pay for any type of childcare and/or tutoring the family may need. Whether it’s a babysitter, a childcare facility, a special needs educator, or an after-school tutor helping a child learn English, this grant will help families give their children with the support and care they need to be safe and succeed in remote learning.

IT TAKES A VILLAGE

When the community comes together, big things happen. Interfaith Community Outreach was contacted by an elderly resident needing help with her HVAC system. After speaking to the resident, it was clear that she was on a very tight budget. When you’re on a fixed income and when anything goes wrong, there is not much in the budget to cover repairs. After making some calls, starting with Dare County Department of Social Serivces, we knew we all needed to colloborate together to get this elderly resident the help she needed. Big things happened! The resident was able to get a new HVAC System installed. A big thank you to our amazing community and everyone who helped to make this happen:

A Gentle Act of Kindness from a Local Artist

A gentle act of kindness goes a long way. Sofia Espinosa Fonseca was touched by the outreach ICO does for our community and wanted give back. Sofia is a local artist and loves to paint. She decided that would be how she would make an impact to ICO, by painting a picture that has meaning to her. Sofia stopped by the office to present her beautiful hand painted Betta Fish picture to ICO and we are truly blessed by Sofia’s kindness.
