Dale Draper Recognized for Outstanding Volunteer Service

We are honored to share that Frank “Dale” Draper has been awarded a 2025 North Carolina Governor’s Volunteer Service Award for his extraordinary work as a volunteer with Interfaith Community Outreach (ICO).

For over 20 years, Dale has been a steadfast presence at ICO, providing compassionate support to individuals and families experiencing temporary emergency crises. He has conducted hundreds of outreach interviews and brought practical solutions—and a warm heart—to those facing their most difficult moments.

Dale was nominated for this prestigious recognition by ICO Director Jennifer Albanese, who wrote:

“His unwavering commitment to helping those in need showcases his deep sense of compassion and responsibility towards his community.”

Jennifer’s nomination further highlighted Dale’s deep impact, including his role in orchestrating community events, supporting families through hardship, and inspiring others to serve. His leadership is rooted not only in compassion but also in an impressive career in national defense and Naval Intelligence, which has equipped him with organizational skills and discipline that benefit every volunteer effort he joins.

In addition to his decades of service with ICO, Dale has also volunteered with organizations such as the Marine Corps League, the Dare County Veteran Advisory Council, Mano al Hermano, and All Saints Episcopal Church in Southern Shores—further reflecting his lifelong commitment to giving back.

Dale Draper exemplifies the heart of community service. His humility, leadership, and tireless dedication have touched countless lives and made our community stronger, more connected, and more compassionate.
